Question Help - best places to live near Adelaide

Any recommendations for areas within commuting distance of Adelaide CBD? We're looking to be out of town in a small-ish community with good schooling (pre-school now but soon not to be!). Some people have already mentioned Glenelg, Somerton, Brighton, Seacliff, Hallet Cove and Henley Beach. We’ve also got friends in Moana South. Any comments on these? We've also been thinking about the Hills but have heard bad stories about bushfire risk. Any suggestions?

I'm looking at mawson lakes at the minute, looks pretty nice. I have to say though that we'll be renting for 12 weeks while we have a proper look round

Don't be too put off by bushfires around Adelaide. They happen, but are not usually that scary around Adelaide. Just avoid buying a house that has many tall trees closer than 30m to the house. There are houses in places like Mylor and Bridgewater that are surrounded by trees - I'd avoid them. Also avoid hilltop houses without good fire breaks since that's where all fires want to go!

It's rare for a house that has a well maintained fire break to come under risk from a fire.

Hi,
We've got friends in Flagstaff Hill which is very nice. Its out towards the hills but not too far out so you can still get to the city quickly. Some beautiful houses on large blocks and quite a few poms in the area. So kids would easily meet other kids from the uk at school. Nearby, Blackwood is nice and has a small community feel with shops, schools lots of families etc.
