Hi,

Can anyone recommend bank accounts in Oz. I am going out in 4 weeks, can I open a bank account before i go? should I wait until I get out there and what do I need to open one.

Any help appreciated

Hi Derek

I've just filled out the forms from here:-

http://www.migrantbanking.co.uk (Commonwealth Bank, London branch)

You need to download them and them send them off with various forms of ID. I think it states on there that they like the account to be opened 4 weeks prior to departing.

Opening mine with the Commwealth Bank.

Seem to be as good as any to get us up and running. Opened it from London and they provide a transfer account to deposit funds into.

There are others such as West Pac and ANZ.

I simply filled out the Commonwealth forms, posted em to London and a couple of weeks later had the account opened.
