Help! Another lost passport thread.
Yep, lost my passport along with the aussie visa that was stuck inside. Felt a right muncher. Okay so I've got my replacement passport and now have to find out how to get a replacment visa stuck in the passport.
Does anyone definately know who to contact first, is it DIMIA in Adelaide who first granted the visa, or is it Australia House? AHC and DIMIA webistes are not much use on this point and I can't even find a telephone number for the AHC on the web. On other threads I can find lots of sympathy for those that have lost a visa, but not an answer to my query!!
Help!
Neil

Best way to contact Australia House is by fax - it's on the DIMIA website.
I faxed re something and they called within about a minute.

I'll just update this thread in case in the future somebody does a search on the subject of lost passports, as there is not a definitive answer on other existing threads.
If in the UK, one must send your passport to the AHC. Specifically:
Visa Evidencing
Migration Branch
Australian High COmmission
Strand
London WC2B 4LA.
The procedure is the same as for visa evidencing first time around. Apparently there is a charge, though I don't yet know what it is as I write.
You cannot visit AHC in person to sort it out, as AHC closed the public visa counter in November 2003 (as I've just found out).
Faxing AHC (as kindly suggested on this thread) does not work either - tried that a few weeks ago - shouting in outer space would have been more worthwhile.
