Help :)
Hello, I'm new to the forum and just need some help so wondered if any of you can shine some light upon my problem :D
Im 22 female from UK, level 3 qualified hairdresser, looking to make a move out to Australia! My boyfriend is 27 he's a welder first class (whatever that mean s:lol:) I have a cousin who lives on the Goldcoast who has offered us to go and stay with her til we find jobs and get ourselves sorted, which is great and im happy to get a years holiday visa but my boyfriend is slightly worried about that option of upping and moving without having a job offer in place. He wants to work on getting a sponsored visa which there seems to be quite a few online, but we need a little help first! Just wondered whether anyone could tell me if there are many jobs out in Oz for Hairdressers and Welders, whether it would be worth just going for it on a years holiday visa and finding jobs when we arrive....and what the salaries are like over there???? Also, what average salaries would we need to look for to survive over there! i no its different for different states etc, but say for examply the goldcoast... Sorry for all the questions! Ive been researching different websites for months but figured this might be a better way to find out! Thank you xx |
Re: Help :)
I get the impression that people on working visas tend to get temporary manual labour or seasonal hospitality jobs but good luck to you.

Re: Help :)
I would say that getting a 457 sponsored or even a RSMS would be a far better option than comming on a working holiday visa. A lot of companies are reluctant to hire someone on WHV as they know they are only going to be there for 6 months.
Also, not sure gold coast would be the best option for a welder. Personaly i would think about WA as the mining work and oil and gas would offer more work. |

Re: Help :)
I think that makes sense really to view it as you may have to re-train or takes tests or whatever to make sure you meet the standards set by another country.
We were told some states have different standards and qualifications for some jobs. I guess that's the price you pay for wanting a life in a new country, I just think you need to be prepared for it. I've heard there are mining jobs in Queensland as well as Western Australia, but maybe not quite so many. Would you be looking at going to Queensland either route? I can understand that would maybe appeal to you more having family who you obviously get on well with out there. |

Thank you xx Since we've been here (3 years) he's never been out of work and we're on Brisbane Northside. In saying that though he's not just any welder he has a specialized skill - aluminum and he's very good at what he does. If you wanted any info about jobs, conditions, pay etc feel free to PM me :) Best of luck! |
