Help! On 457 Visa - Can my husband set himself up as a small business?
I am currently on an Employer Sponsored 457 Visa. Could anyone help me find out whether my husband can set himself up as a small business while we're on this visa? He will be working freelance for a company back in the UK and needs to get paid somehow! We've heard that there may be some issues with Tax?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

No problems with tax - you have to pay it at the same rate as everyone else.
You can set up as a company or sole trader. Tax implications vary according to your business. Seek specialist advise!!!

Thanks for that Andrew63, puts my mind at rest that it is possible. I know he's trying to get it sorted today, we need to get it sorted as soon as possible as we've been over here for nearly 21/2 months now and my visa has only just come through (severely delayed but another long story) So rapidly running out of cash until my first pay day. We want to get him up and running asap as we've got rent to pay and nursery bills!
Do you know roughly how long it took to get set up?
