Default Help!!

Hi there! I am seriously fed up with England and want to emigrate to Austalia and could do with any advice from others that have taken the plunge themseves. My mother married an Austalian and has lived there for over 10 years, in fact she now is an Austalian citizen.................will his help? Also what is the quickest way of getting out there? Can i apply for a visitors visa and go out to stay with my Mum until my "proper" visa comes though?? Would it be easier if I had a job to go to? (I have some family connections!) Help me if you can - i feel a little bewildered by all of the forms etc on the Government web site! Has anyone employed a migration specialist? Does this speed things up?
Look forward to hearing from anyone soon!

i think if you are under 21 you could get citizenship by descent and this is quite straightforward, otherwise i think you would be best consulting a migration agent for a free no obligation chat, they would advise on your chances and give you a rough idea of the costs involved.

it is a long and tedious quest and there are many here in your position, you can gain a lot of knowledge here so pull up a chair and welcome.

mmm, I dont know but surely having a Australian step father must be of some help. How old are you and are you married with children?

Look on the immigration website. There may be some answers there for you.

Are you sure the reasons that have made you fed up with England aren't in OZ a well?

What do you hate about the UK?

Bondipom,
You would be fed up if you were still in the UK and thinking of Oz.
Land of milk and honney and all things funny

You could be right though, you can go where ever you like but you are still you, with the same personal problems. I think that came out right

Bye

Land of Milk and Honey for some Arsehole of the world for others. I do not want to see another throw away what might be a good life in the UK for something that could be worse here.

I like OZ but I do not find it the land of milk and honey. I could happily live either side of the world.

Hi bondipom,
I think that it all depends on whe you are. There are some bad parts of the UK, and some good ones. It's just finding the ones that you feel good in.

The UK is ok for me, but I would kick myself later if I didn't do it.

Bye

Markeh you are going with with the give it a go attitude which for me is the way forward. You are right that it depends on who you are and what you want out of life.

Dreaming from the UK OZ might seem like the land of milk and honey but the milk turns sour for 50% of UK immigrants and they return home.

OZ does not want unhappy poms and they have tarred the rest of us with the Whinging tag.

This is the place for the reality of life in OZ, the good, the bad and the damn right ugly.

Hi
by all means consult a migration agent for eligibility.
However don't sign up as they are expensive and it is (fairley) easy to do it on your own with the help of the lads and lasses on this web-site.

Agents are useful if you are borderline or short on time. The agents that post on this forum post good advice that would not be known to someone outside the system.

Each case is different and there are some complexities that agents can help with. On the other hand if your case is clear and you have the time this forum will get you through.

The other advantage of using an agent is that they present the paper work in a manner that case officers will find easy to read. This may help processing go quicker and prevent further requests for information that may delay an application.

Unfortunateley not all agents are of a high standard.

I don't think that is valid advice.

Everybodies circumstances are different and some do require the expert advice and help of an agent. Although this forum does give out good advice to people regarding the filling in of forms there have been many cases where an agent has posted here to correct people and give them the correct advice.

As for being expensive; really depends what you class as being expensive, you do it yourself and maybe screw up the application and don't get in or you seek the services of an agent and do!

But I do agree that they should seek the advice from an agent and make a descision from there, but don't rule out using an agent altogether.

My migration agent cost me £3000 outwith TRA, form application fee, removals etc.
I was promised free financial advice (Yeah ) and resettlement (yeah yeah) both of which I was way ahead of them on the internet.
Total waste of £3000 if you ask me.
Obviously this is on hind sight after discovering how relatively easy the system is.
Might set up a migration company meself.
