Helloo! I'm new!
Just thought I'd say Hi & How d'ya do! :)
I moved to Australia from Norfolk, England 2 years & 2 months ago. I am married to an Australian who I met when I came on a working holiday. I still miss home occasionally but am now starting to feel more settled. From talking to other people, 2 years seems to be the cut off point for home sickness and I think they're right. I am a receptionist for a buying group which is ok (when I started almost a year ago it was great but now it's ok)!! My husband, Simon, is a plumber & very cute. No kids :) , or pets:( We love camping & are just getting into 4 wheel driving, socialising with family & friends, movies, eating out and I am an avid reader. Well that's a little bit about me, hope to make some new friends through this site. See Ya! |

We have just moved from Northamptonshire to Adelaide and very new at the Oz way of life, enjoying it so far, the kids are in school and day care and my hubbie was offered 3 jobs, and started last week. Not too sure what I am going to do yet, need to get a house sorted as we are staying with friends at the moment. Enjoy your camping and 4 wheel driving. Mrs Clevs |

Quite a lot of people on here are around Melbourne so I am sure you will make a few pals along the way. |
Hi Sparkles, I work just down the road from you in Nunawading & live in Ferntree Gully. You just missed a Melbourne Ex Pats meet. You should come over some night & tell hubby to bring his tools, that dripping tap drives me crazy :D

Which part of Norfolk? |
Hiya and welcome to the forum.
I am pretty new as well but hope to be heading out to Victoria maybe in the new year so no doubt I will be picking your brains as well - it's good to get some background information from those who actually live there. Hope you enjoy the forum - it becomes very addictive. |

Welcome to the forum:)
I have fiends in Melb and had hoped to move there next year but hubby has backed off the visa applications:( Still - I'll be back there at the beginning of next year for a holiday instead to visit my friends. There's so much to do in Melb. glad to hear you are settling down . Have you been camping to Wilsons Prom. yet? One of our friends has a trailer tent and takes the family there every January. Another friend has a caravan at Ocean Grove and spends every school holiday there. Lucky me- I'm going to cat sit house sit her house while she's there next January :D Shame you missed the Melb meet up last week - go take a look at the thread of photos from it:) http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...bourne+meet+up Helinuk:) |

Hi Sparkles
Good to hear you are settling now. We have our visas and will be validating in October and are considering Melbourne - not sure what areas, we have three boys under 9. How do you find the weather, I like the sound of seasons as we know them and Melbourne sounds very laid back and cosmopolitan - I've lived in London 22 years, so am used to the city life, but would like to slow down a bit! My other half is a builder, do you know what work is like for builders in Melbourne? All the best Poppy |
