Hello from Tasmania
He everyone, well we are finally over here now, and loving it.
Tasmania is absolutely breathtaking, although its winter it beats the pants of the UK. We have no regrets about moving over here whatsoever.
We have bought a house, bought a car, bought a puppy, got our daughter into school, got a TFN number, got registered with Medicare, have car insurance, house insurance and got registered for work, so I reckon we are well on our way to getting ourselves established..... been here in Tasmani now 16 days, we are really impressed, better than we could have ever believed it to be. Did Melbourne first for a couple of days that was nice too but too busy for me, so im glad we chose Tasmania.
Anyone thinking of coming over here, I would say go ahead. We dont regret it, it is very quiet very scenic a cross between Canada and New Zealand. and the people are some of the friendliest I have ever met.
You were right Pollyanna, it is the right place but we moved to the South East side around Sorrell 20 mins frm Hobart we are living in a place called Lewisham. Very scenic overlooking the 7 mile beach area and the bay. Will email you soon
Take care everyone

So glad everything is going ok. If you have a spare minute will you check out the local papers for Joiner/carpenter jobs. Don't know if you remember us we are applying for STNI to Tas just want to know the reality of how many jobs are around. Also if not being too rude how much did your house cost how many bedrooms etc.
All the best

I'm quite jealous of you being able to live in Tasmania. If it werent for work obligations i'd be there in a flash.I have to work in Sydney so i live in my second favourite part of Australia, the NSW Southern Highlands.I hope to retire early and move to Tassie....love the gardens, colonial architecture, landscape and weather.I guess it's the lack of employment opportunities compared to the mainland that keep the little island so pristine.

Soooo pleased it working out well; Sorrell is a stunning area, and probably less isolated than the Huon Valley; 7 Mile Beach is wonderful, I just love it when the flights approach from that direction, over the beach.
I always found the people so friendly too - Brisbane still has a bit of it, but not so universally welcoming!
Look forward to hearing more about how you explore the place!
