Default Health Undertaking in Oz......

When I had my medical done they found that I'd got small calcification spots on my lung. The Specialist said this could've been caused by an untreated case of TB :scared: or a very bad chest infection. He explained that if he were doing the report for just a standard British medical he would've reported that it was normal, but as it's for Oz and they are so stringent about everything he's had to detail it in his report.

Well, we've got the bond request/pregrant letter and they've enclosed a form for me to do which is a Health Undertaking. I have to report to the local health service to have further checks!

What's this all about then? The specialist and the panel doctor both said it was nothing to worry about and as I have no evidence of active TB there is no problems. So why have I got to do this?

Has anyone else had to do this Health Undertaking thingy when they got to Oz?

Hi Tracey
How long after your meds did they decided to grant you the visa, just asking as Steve had a similar thing on his lung which we knew about, he had it checked out 10 years back when they came across it by accident, so at least we managed to send off letters from our docs saying there was nothing found, they put it down to whooping cough as a kid.

Hi Jenny

They requested the bond three weeks after the meds were posted to them.

I'm just a bit worried as to why they feel the need to follow this up in Oz when I've been told by doctors here that it's nothing to worry about. So what am I doing? Worrying, that's what!!!

So in my female mind I now have myself diagnosed with something a bit more than calcification spots!

Hi
I had the same thing-small calcification on the lung. Part of my visa condition was that i reported my whereabouts to doctors over here (brisbane) within a month of my arrival. I did and soon received a request that i attend hospital. The doctor in oz looked at my xrays and just said 'they are very strict on imigration' he then just wrote a letter to immigration to say i was ok.
Problem solved within a couple of months of being here. I think they just wanted to worry me!!

Thank-you, thank-you....that has really put my mind at rest. I s'pose they just have to be so cautious.
