Health Screen
Hello everyone
My first time here and feeling a little lost at the moment. I am sure I will get used to getting around the board.
My husband and I plus my 20 month old son are seriously considering emigrating to Australia and we have done a provisional test which we seem to have all the right criteria. One thing that bothers me is that both my husband and I are very over weight and I am wondering would this affect our application? Does anyone know if this will lead to our application failing if everything else is in order.
The other item is debt ... we have a fair amount (so who dosent?) but we have a fair amount of equity which would easily clear any debt and pay off the mortgage.
Can anyone help with these two points... I just feel it may be a none starter so would like useful advise before we get over excited about the idea.
Thanks in anticipation
Jen

You are not asked to declare any debt in your application and it would not matter anyway.
So those two things are not of real concern. So - that said welcome to the forum and now you can get excited

Just wanted to welcome you. Not sure of the answers to your questions but I think in general if you are medically assessed and found to have a long term costly medical condition (not just due to being overweight) then you're more likely to be turned down or referred to a specialist for further examinations. I'm sure there are others on here who can specifically advise though but good luck if you decide to go for it.
All the best Sharon
p.s not everyone is a size 10 in Aus! (I hope!!!) :scared:

I have lots more questions but I am trying to go through some of the previous posts to see if anyone else has asked before which I am sure they will have done.
How long though in general terms from applying to being accepted does it normally take? Is it once you have been accepted that you try and sell your house if you have one to sell? Like I say, lots of questions going on but I will try and read through save repeating
