Question Health Question

Dreaming of Australia, permanant move....

How can I get some informal advice before going to the expense of visa application/medicals?

I had (benign) pituitary tumour surgically removed last year... been working as nurse for over a year since, but still on steroids... don't know yet if steroid replacement will be a permanant thing..

Youngest child born with bilatral cleft lip and pallete, has had all his major surgery... but will need small surgery aged 10 - 12 yrs (he is 5 at the moment) has regular speech therapy.... No intellectual impairment/developmental delay other than speech....

Do we stand any chance as a family? Or should we give up now..... almost before we start.

Would really appreciate some honest advice, Thankyou.....

Hi eddie,

Sorry I don't know the answer to your questions. But just wanted to say Hi, I am sure there will be someone who can help you find out. Good luck.

Hi Eddie,
I'm no expert on medical matters, but maybe you could get in touch with a Migration Agent just for some advice and to ask them what they think your chances would be.
Welcome to BE by the way
Julie

Yes, I agree a Migration Agent would be your best bet. Most offer free consultations and would know pretty much straight away if you had a good change of securing a visa.

The problem is that most migration agents know very little about health issues. One of the few that does know a lot is Peter Bollard in Sydney:

Peter's quite busy so you'll need to be prepared to pay for his advice.

Also, there's no point worrying about health criteria unless you meet the other skill, age etc criteria for a visa.

Theres the rub, I do meet all the other criteria.... Registered nurse with enough experience, 37, english is my native language, partner is also on skills in demand list and four children.... who will grow up to be nice little workers

I'll try this guy, but ask for a quote first.... Thankyou.
