Health insurance for the DANES
Hello and help, please! So hub is in Brisbane RIGHT NOW (lucky bas....), and the only thing they need to talk about now is health insurance...We have searched the net, but I cannot seem to find an average cost of a family of four...
I can get prices, but they do not say whether the price is pr. month or pr. week and whether it is for one or four people or ten people (guess not).
We are from Denmark and do not have a reciprocal agreement.
Can anyone please tell me the average of a health insurance for a family of four pr month?
I am 34, hub 36, kids 9 and 4....We will need a medium good cover, I have high blood-pressure, do not know whether this will affect it.
We will have to tell employer the approx. pricerange, so as to negotiate and perhaps make him pay, so any help would be fantastic.
Cheers

I pay about $190 a month for a family of 5 - low hospital cover but fairly high extras cover.

Hi - first I think you are on 457 visas yes?
If so, there are only a limited number of policies available. I know Medibank Private offer one. Medibank Visitors Insurance
Most policies advertise a monthly amount - and usually you either get a policy for singles or pay double the amount for couples/families (it doesn't usually increase if you have 2 kids or 10 kids).
I did a quick quote and for a family it ranges from $221 (Basic Cover) to $497 (Top Cover)
Use www.privatehealth.gov.au to see which other providers offer Temporary Resident Cover.
