Talking Head of the Bight = Whales

Just returned from a trip to the Head of the Bight on the Nullarbor.

There are LOTS of whales there.

Did the Eyre Peninsular on the return trip, might add those photos another day.

WOW! What a great set of pictures I saw a whale off the coast of Magnetic Island on Sunday but it was too far out to get a decent photo.

Hi
Your shots of the whales are absolutely fantastic, many that are worthy of being framed. We were wondering if you were on a boat or on land, they seem so close. Also what type of whales are they?

I am so excited about seeing whales again, last time I saw the humpbacks but that was years ago. My mum will be so envious of you when she seems your pictures. I think she wants to visit oz more to see whales than me!

They are taken from the clifftop, the last photo shows the boardwalk. I also used a 100-400mm lens that gets in close, though not as well as a good pair of binoculars.

Southern Right Whales. You can read about them here: http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/coasts/whales/
They come to South Australia from May to October to give birth or mate.
