Thinking of buying a large flat screen tv any one know if aus broadcasts in high definition

As far as I know it doesnt yet but it certainly sells the HD ready TV's.

I think SBS are going to xmit the World Cup in HD. And I know that there are HD digital decoders out there for sale.

You will have to buy a HD set top box and that will enable you to get 7,9 and 10 in HD (although only a few programs are in HD at the moment). I now watch all the available programs on these channels in HD (its usually the big/popular programs such as CSI etc) and it makes the world of difference.

As the article says below each channel has to broadcast at least 1040 hours per year in HD.
