Hayfever nightmare!

Sorry if this has already been done but do people generally suffer with hayfever in Oz? Myself & my son are really suffering at the mo due to the luvly weather but have never suffered when we've been abroad. We're heading to Gold Coast so being as it's coastal we might escape the worst of it although that doesn't seem to be the case here in Portsmouth!:(

Yep!

I got it in Aus sorry to say, although I had it worse in South Australia than what I did in Queensland and I've had it worse over here in the UK from what I remember than in South Australia!

So maybe you'll be ok? I mean you're still likely to get it, but hopefully not as bad? Who knows!

Best of luck on the Gold Coast!!

I used to suffer something terrible to the point I couldn't walk as my eyes were so badly puffed up i couldn't open my eyes.

The doc used to prescribe an injection called Kenolog??(sp) this too was a steroid but after 2 years he wouldn't give it to me anymore and said that there was some controversy over its use?

Gradually suffered less and less - till out here in ACT hardly ever suffer.

I had terrible hayfever in the UK but haven't had it at all in Brisbane!! I also never get flu or colds! I've also lost about 7kg without any effort (no diet change) I am without a doubt much healthier over here than the UK!! Hope it's the same for you!

Suffered very badly from hayfever in the UK - whatever set me off isn't here, not had even the slightest twinge since we arrived. Luck of the draw though I guess - hayfever covers a multitude of allergies and you might find you suffer just as much here.

Don't suffer myself but I know a lot of Autralians do. The pollen from natives is very dense for a few weeks - everything is covered with yellow dust

Hi,

Depends what you're allergic to. I am most sensitive to hawthorn and may pollen (think uk country hedges) which are virtually non-existent here in Perth. So my hay fever has almost disappeared (after 25 years of misery)

Cheers

Mark
