Here in the UK where Summer is like a blast outta no where, maybe the extreme difference means we experience the hayfever much more accutely!
Gosh, that sounded almost plausible!

haha you may be right dals!
I always used to think it was cos most main Aus citys are based near the sea and therefore the sea breeze saved me! ;-)

Some people suffer worse, some less - depends on what triggers it. Do a search through the Lifestyle forum, its come up several times.

Re: hayfever
I am suffering terribly at the moment from hayfever here in Scotland; runny nose, sore itchy eyes, throat is itchy and swollen.. total nightmare. I was also wondering whether I'll suffer when I move to Brisbane next year. Anytime I've been on holiday in the sun to the States or Europe, I never seem to suffer from it. Here's hoping it's the same there. I will be trying the miracle pint of water cure too though!

I used to suffer pretty bad back there and was on prescription medication for it (thankfully or it would of cost me a fortune) I spoke to the Doctor before I came over and he said the pollens, grasses, trees, crops etc are all going to be totally different to what my body is allegric to in the UK so chances are it may go away, and if it doesnt the medication I take in the UK is likely to be a lot less effective in OZ.
Thankfully its gone.
I think it is also partially due to the proximity to the ocean and the very low humidity we have here in Perth.
I know everytime ive been to QLD ive noticed the difference in the air and it has an impact on my breathing (I used to get bad Ashtma as a child) and this was sort of linked to hayfever in the effect it had on me.

Re: hayfever
Less grass and tree pollen in populated areas in Aus my hub tells me. He suffers terribly with it in the UK yet here, he gets a mild 2 week dose of it. Also no oil seed rape here (that yellow stuff) that sets some people off.

This made me chuckle as I have been wondering the same thing! Hayfever has a been a bugger in the UK this year so I'm hoping and praying I won't suffer in Oz!
