Hayfever ??????????????

Really sad question for a Saturday night , but............

Are hayfever syptoms any worse in Oz.??
I don't suffer as bad as I used to (went to a great homeopathic doctor) and hoping that moving to Perth will not bring forth the hell.
With it being so warm it would be a shame for me not to enjoy it - I'd be in danger of being a w.pom.

We went out there in the autumn and I was fine no probs.

Please give me some good news. If the news is bad let me know what drugs I can take (legal ones I mean) or alternatives homeo wotsits.

Cheers Jill
:o

P.S. Where is spell check when you need it ?

Various legal drugs available, Zyrtec tablets being one. Prices vary between $30 and $45 for a pack of 30, (1 per day) prices depend on the whim of the chemist. You can also get nasal sprays if it is really bad for you.

Not sure what it will be like in Perth, but it is worse in Sydney Western suburbs than it is in Brisbane Baydside area.

I never even knew about hayfever in England, but I notice it a little bit here, although not enough to need any medication.
My wife suffers badly, and hence the knowledge between Sydney & QLD. She's just come back from 8 days in Sydney.
She is also happy to be back in the "Cooler" weather here in QLD bayside. (its the cooling breezes from the water that do it!)

Don't know about Perth but Adelaide has been really bad this year for hayfever.

I do not suffer from hayfever but there are some pollens here that send my nose crazy. Not sure why they are different. It is only a problem for a week at a time though,

I suffer from a dust allergy - and occasional hayfever, the hayfever only bothers me in Brissie straight after rain, when the grass comes to life.
I used to swear by Piriton in the UK - took the leaflet to the chemist this week and they have given me Polaramine, which is apparently the equivalent- certainly seems to work, and doesn't make me drowsy (which was what I liked about Piriton)

Hi,I had hayfever in the uk for years until last year I started using becanase spray and clarityne tabs.Unfortunately still get hayfever here in adelaide again like in uk distinct seasons.UK was may june and half july, here it`s 2nd half september until mid november.Take same medication here as I did in uk and it keeps it at bay, although living at the beach may help with less pollens than country areas?

My girlfriend gets hayfever quite badly in South Australia but not in England. When I've been in SA for any length of time I get a red rash that starts on my arms and spreads over my body. As soon as I get back to England it vanishes quickly. So when I move out next year we won 't be living there!

Yeh the pollen is bad in Perth too I'am afraid, I started sneezing when we arrived and haven't stopped, got worse just lately. I use Rhinocort nasal spray, this seems to help a lot. About $20

Just shows how different it can be for everyone. I've hardly been troubled by hayfever since arriving here. The odd sneezing now and again, usually after gardening, but a couple of days dosing up with nasal spray and I'm fine again. My sister though suffers real bad, and I don't remember her having hayfever when we lived in the UK. (By the way, I just sneezed, my brain wants to remind me yes I'm still a hayfever sufferer.)

i used to get hayfever in the uk....didnt get it when i moved to perth...but this year it came back...i think it was because over winter we had a fair bit of rain and there are more flowers around in early summer than there usually are
bring over big supplies of piriton and you will be fine...i still reckon thats the best one!

Thanks everyone for the replies although I think the news isn't good.
I use beconase here so hopefully I can find something similar.
Love the sneezing flower !!!

Cheers everyone and have a very Merry Christmas and may all your dreams come true for the New Year.

Jill
