Re: Having a wobble
Wobbles are normal, both before and after.
tip: don't let your family drive you to the airport, say goodbyes properly beforehand. You don't want to be trying to get on a plane and going through security an emotional wreck. Count the moment you leave for the airport as the start of your new life rather than the end of an old one. |
Re: Having a wobble
Last night there were reruns of a place in the sun down under and it was an IT professional in Melbourne! They showed Eltham which is on our list of suburbs, but wasn't what I expected, so goes to show that I can't plan from here, so onto list making of what I can control...

To be honest, it is really hard to really get a good idea of what Australia/Melbourne/any suburb is like before you visit. I remember when we first came and nothing was like I imagined. Then again, I imagined Australia to be more like the US :o Goes to show I knew nothing! Oh, and I remember looking at map of Sydney and thinking "oooh, let's live in Woolloomooloo" just because I loved the name! |
Re: Having a wobble
Nothing negative (reread post and realised it sounded...) no, less built up and more trees which is good! but OH heard the more expensive bit and started to ask about other areas...
I admit I have looked at suburbs and thought can you get anymore Australian than that name!! Kanagroo ground for example! I now have to produce a spreadsheet of 6 possible areas based on transport links, schools, sports clubs, rental costs and potential house buying costs... So, other than Monty...?! |
Re: Having a wobble
I'd be more worried if you didn't question what you were doing.

Out of curiosity, what was different between what you expected and what they showed of Eltham?

Re: Having a wobble
It is often said regret what you haven't done....but there is a flaw....for everything you do and regret there is by definition another thing you could have done which might have been better....
And things you regret doing can be monumental....there was a woman.. |
Re: Having a wobble
