Have you had the same shock as me??
We are a long way off even booking flights but a little bored today and looking on the web sites at property to buy and looking at 4 and 5 bedroomed houses in Adelaide.
Some of the houses look really really nice from the outside lots of character and space and the gardens, look really nice and so do most of the swimming pools etc, etc,
BUT inside, Oh my god my 95 year old Granny has got more modern taste than some of those decors!! Wooden panelling in the lounge, kitchens and bathrooms similar to the ones we ripped out of our current house because they were installed in the 70's, furniture so out of date it needs to go in the skip, colour schemes like I have only ever seem on Changing Rooms, need I go on......
This is causing me huge concern, worrying that everything is really really old fashioned in Australia!! I am not a fashion victim but I do like things that match and nice modern "cool/warm" colours with modern kitchen and bathroom fittings.
Sorry to cause anyone any offence with this thread, but just wanting to check that you are at least able to buy "modern" furniture and fittings etc

Hello
There is a reason Adelaide is known as the City of Churches!!
Yes, you can buy modern furniture try something like;
Dare Gallery http://www.daregallery.com.au/
or for cheaper more family friendly prices try
Freedom http://www.freedom.com.au/
Remember paint is easy to get rid of, be glad it was not wallpaper as is so common in the UK. My first place in the UK it took weeks to remove floral, vinyl, textured, shinny wallpaper!

Without wishing to give offence, posts like these never fail to amaze me.
Are you really judging all Australian homes by what you've seen from a few properties online?
I expect you would see just as many homes for sale in England with out of date decor if you did a quick comparison.
Australian decor and in particular, architecture is renowned for its innovation and modern styling.
I expect you may be looking at proerties which require refurbishment - plenty of those around in the UK as well.

Hi Toon
Yes, you can buy modern furniture and fittings in Adelaide!
You can also buy new modern houses with new fittings installed.
By the way, that 'wood panelling' is usually that plasticised fake panelling which is nailed up in sections and is washable!
