I was sure I read on here that Oz does not "do" Halloween, so we bought nothing and had over 30 trick or treaters and had to say - sorry, we're new to here and didn't think you did this....sorry guys...next year! OPPS! There goes us making any friends in the neighbourhood!

we had quite a few, but had forgotten all about it. One poor lad had his bag of sweets nicked so we gave him a plastic bag!

The kids over here are a lot older than the ones that used to trick or treat at home, and some of them are right little gits. We went out to get some food, came back and there were a load of kids standing in the road, they wouldnt move and one lad was making faces at us. Little sh*t!

Not checked, don't think so - but if we did it would feel like where we left in UK - we got egged at least once a month there - just bored kids that's all.

We are in perth and yes we have the kids at the door, not too many but the funniest thing i saw in 1 of the kids bags was some old biddy gave him a tin of kidney beans instead of sweets, had to laugh.my boy went out with his mates and got loads of sweets and a box of cakes off the mayor round the corner.......it seems more popular than last year here.........jan hutchy

I was sort of hoping Halloween didn't happen in Oz - Stupid american commercialisation of an old pagan festival if you ask me!

I mean you walk round in some half arsed costume and beg for sweets and perform tricks on them that don't give - what a brilliant way of reinforcing anti social behaviour!

Maybe I'm just a miserable old git!!!! :scared:

You are

We have kinda brought Halloween into area neighbourhood. I thought well weve given them Ivy and Brambles so why not spread some more UK joy

The local girls came over and hubby took them trick or treating. We ended the evening with them all doing apples on a string, Apple bobin with the sweets in flour etc. So much fun. They were all raving after. Maybe next year we will do it as a street party

Great , must tell my 7 year old daughter as she is a bit down today as she thought last night was her last halloween. We're moving to Oz in Jan and her friends have been saying "they don't do trick or treat in Australia" (so kind children)She will be happy.

We had loads last night, 3 tiny ones dressed up fantastically, you could see loads of effort had gone into it and they looked so cute. The rest were just teenagers in tracksuits with cheap masks on hoping for money and being not too impressed with a milky way..a cheap Asda's own at that lol

My friend had some older ones knock on her door and when she gave them sweets they said "haven't you got any money" Bloody cheek!!!!

my kids and their friends went trick or treating, and they had a great time, got loads, its fun, and it was more like fancy dress, so yes they do it her, so tell your little girl it was not her last and make her day. Denise
