Question has the recession put you off going?

We have been looking forward to going for many years got our visa could not sell the house. Now we have sold and excited but worried as the job situation is dire over here, what if it is that bad over there? house prices and rentals do not seem to be dropping in Australia? Are you fortetting the dream or going for it?

exactly same position, except we haven't sold yet, but won't be making the leap, three kids and can't risk it with them. All a bit bitter sweet really, but will ride it out here first, good luck

Recession in Aus has stopped us going, as job that was there for us is no longer on offer . So now we're in for a loooonnnngggg wait by the looks of it. Desire to go hasn't changed one little but. We can't wait but are having to

it hasnt put us off going ... but we wont be going this year cos its just not worth it. we are struggling financially here, so it wont be any easier in aus - oh is a plasterer, and has been out of full time work for a couple of months now... just had odd small jobs one or two days a week.
we too have been planning to go for years, but at the end of the day if there arent any jobs, its not worth the risk when you have kids.
we shall ride the storm and see what the situation is like in 6-9 months

You won't be able to claim any benefits there though

No, we're still going. Decided to do the meds and police checks even though we only put visa in a month ago. House been on the market six weeks and four viewings - we like most have been hit hard by the amount we will lose. We have decided to get out as soon as possible so I can find a job in SA.

We've four children and the older two are desperate to go, they'd go tomorrow. I think it depends how the current effects someone. I am slightly fortunate as there seems to be work for my occupation - teaching.

The recession didn't put us off going, but it might put us off staying if things don't change pretty soon!

SA? Depends what you do for a living but if it's anything to do with automotive or manufacturing.... think about another State, honestly!

The recession is one of the reasons stopping us from going back to England this year. We had planned to head back in July of this year but have put it on the back burner until next year now due to not wanting to give up two well paid jobs and take the risk back home. We are going back in September for a holiday and will scope out the job scene (as best we can) along with housing and take it from there.
