Brain-picking time - has anyone used Bishops Move to Queensland?? If you did, was the service good, packing okay, everything arrived in pretty much in one piece??

Thanks.

Can't help with overseas but we used them to move us in the uk, professional, speedy packing and from memory we just had 1 broken picture..

Not sure on cost either as it was a company move..

Hi JUlie,

thanks for your reply - we're just looking at so many different movers to get prices and to find out if people had used them it's getting all confusing!!

Ta.

Talk about good timing! Their info pack arrived on the door mat this morning. Ive used them a couple of times in the UK and the woman at my local office was brilliant when we enquired about shipping to Aus. They can sort out all the insurance, act as agents at the other end with customs and coordinate with local companies for delivery or further storage that end if you need to. I found Pickfords not very helpful and quite uninterested. Bishops quoted approximately £2500 - 3000 for a 20ft container a 40 ft being approx £4500 depending on detination location. The 20ft is big enough for the average 3-bed semi. The info pack also had a few good hints and things that hadnt occured to us like a full detailed inventory list for customs and things that can, cant or shouldnt be taken (plants, animals, booze - this attracts high rate of import duty so will have to be brave and drink it all before we go!! )
Hope this has been of some help

Hi there,

We used them to migrate in 2003 and they we excellent. Packed up house in May, in storage (added a few bits at the warehouse in Battersea as we went along) until we left in August , arrived and cleared customs with no problems and Kent Removals delivered to Newcastle and unloaded at our new house at the end of November. The Aussie guys actually commented on how well it had been packed so we have nothing but good things to say about Bishops Move. If you get a cheaper quote - ask them if they will match it as they probably will. Hope this helps

Julie

Not sure if this helps but I have been quoted just short of £1200 for 262 cubic feet from PSS International (and thats for a full pack service). If (or should I be thinking WHEN) we get our visa we are not taking big stuff like furniture (other than a nice marble table). Most of our stuff will go into boxes.

Thanks for the tips people!! We are still looking around - want to get our stuff on it's way in about 6 weeks time at the most....seeing as it will probably be hanging around in some storage area waiting for enough stuff to fill a container....
