Hard disk
When I immigrate to Oz can I take my hard disk with me in cabin luggage?
Would I be asked to disclose the contents to the authorities?
Thanks

Yes you can. But why not leave it inside your PC and back up the data to a CD-ROM
which you can carry?

I guess in theory they could ask you anything, but it's not routine for people to be
asked the contents of disks in their possession. Maybe if they suspect you're
smuggling state secrets

Copying software isn't always illegal though, especially if you are the author of the software :-)
I think Jeremy was referring to your data in your harddisk. Why don't you back up your harddisk data onto a CDROM and take that CDROM to Australia?

well i just wanted to have all my favourite softwares with their customised settings with me on the hard disk. I really would hate to run around to get the computer done up with the softwares as i would have many things on my mind when i land there.
Thanks anyways.
