Default Hairdressing

Hi

I,ve come over on a Skilled Visa, being a well sort after Hairdresser. I,m having problems with Registering as I am a colourist and would have to take a cutting and blowdrying test to pass.

I have Permanent Residency.

Can anyone tell me, if I decided to get a job outside the Hairdressing Trade, could i have my Visa revoked?

Feel used and confused. Can anyone give me any advice.

Thanks Tina

I tend to agree with podgy.
I had a cut whilst I was in Perth last year, it was the worst experiance of my life.
I have naturally wavy hair and spend most of my time straightening it with ceramics.
The hairdressers I went to advised me to keep cutting the waves out!!. As my hair was drying, it was obviously curling up at the ends, and the bloody hairdresser was cutting away like mad. I was out that chair like I had a rocket up my ar..e!!
When I got back here it cost me a fortune to get it sorted, so keep at it as I for one will be looking for someone decent once we get there!!!

OMG & $H!T.

German hairdressers are (so I thought until now) the crappiest in the world. Was really looking forward to getting to Perth so I could get a decent haircut again. Now I read this. thanks a lot girls

Greta, for the sake of some one who has been deprived of a decent hairdresser for 4 years, please consider sticking with it and moving to Perth. Please! Pretty please !

whilst we're on the subject of hairdressers.......I qualified as one many moons ago and would like to take it up again when we get to Oz (I've been out of it for over 10 years) I was hoping to be able to do a refresher course over there to brush up etc then get work. My prob is I have lost my apprenticeship papers etc... Anyone know if this is gonna be a prob? Am I gonna have to start from scratch again?

Thanks anyone!!

Phew' I am lucky as my mate who lives on the Gold Coast used to cut my hair before she moved there and she is really great so that is one thing I wont have to worry about

Hi

I think it depends on which State your going to live in as they all have different rules and regs. As i said I,m qualified and have been hairdressing as a colour specialist for the last 18 years but the rules in WA insist on me doing a cutting test to get registered, even though I have all my certificates and work history.
Without registration, I can,t work in a salon or buy trade products to even work for myself. ABSOLUTE MADNESS.

I,ve come all the way over here, willing to work and have salon,s offering me jobs as a colour technician, but unless I,m registered I can,t do anything. ABSOLUTE MADNESS.

ALL COLOUR TECHNICIANS BEWARE.
