Default Hairdresser Perth

Hi does anyone know if I need a skills assessment to work as a hairdresser in Perth? Also do I need a licence to work in a salon?
Thankyou

You only need a skills assessment if you are the main applicant.

Ok thankyou for the reply. Do you know if I can start working straight away as a hairdresser? Will my qualifications be recognised?

Thankyou

What visa are you considering? You don't need skill assessment for a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) for example.

Hi, If you have not already checked then I would check to see if your skill is still on the requirement list for WA, a while ago Hairdressers were taken off some of the "skills requirement" list for some states. My friend migrated on a PR a few years ago as a hairdresser to WA and all I can remember (after she had her skills processed for her PR visa) is that she had an interview with a few salons and also complete a few tasks/skills in the salons, she did "get" work but only part time, eventually my friend worked from her converted garage for a few years but then left the hairdressing trade for good quite a while ago now. Good luck...

Hi Thankyou for the replies. My partner is the main applicant he's a sheet metal welder/fabricatior so we can go for the 189 visa. I didn't know if Australia recognised my qualifications or not that's all.

Thankyou

You should be fine in respect of qualifications. The bigger issue will be finding jobs. Perth is in recession

You won't need a skills assessment, BUT you need to check out the specific State (WA) requirements to work in your own trade - each state has its own requirements
