Guitar Shipping Stories
Anyone got any?
Mines just a fairly cheap acoustic, still don't want it arriving in bits though!

Re: Guitar Shipping Stories
I just declared them as 'fragile', put them in the special cage after I checked-in and waved them goodbye (gulp ...).
The only special thing I did was take the strings off and put some silca gel in there to attempt to regulate humidity (dunno if this works but it was peace-of-mind).

Re: Guitar Shipping Stories
Mine's a Les Paul. I bought a hard case for the journey and checked it in with the rest of my luggage.
The case had a couple of scuff marks on it but the guitar itself was fine.
The only worry I had was when I went to collect it upon arrival. The 'bulky' items from the plane were dumped away from the luggage carousel in a random spot.
After about an hour of waiting, I spotted it on the floor in the corner of the arrivals section. So I guess it's quite possible that someone could have nicked it if they wanted to.

Re: Guitar Shipping Stories
Hubby had 2 Ibanez, 1 accoustic1, 1 epiphone and another no name piece of s##t.
1 Ibanez came with us in the flight in a padded soft case. Left the strings on and packed a few towels around it for extra protection. It was checked in seperately from our luggage and wasnt included in the final weigh in. The only thing it needed was a re tune on the other side.
The other guitars were shipped with out household contents by John Masons. 2 didnt have cases and they wrapped then up well. Dan took the strings off the ones being shipped in the crate and put silica gel in the cases/wrapping.
No damage to any of them.

Re: Guitar Shipping Stories
Just shipped my epiphone in a hard case with the rest of our stuff and asked the packers not to put anything on top of it. Arrived fine with no damage - wasn't even out of tune!

Hi there, I brought my electro/acoustic in a hard case not flight case in the bulky items luggage with singapore air. Arrived safe (thankfully) the case had a couple of cracks and dents but my trusty tanglewood was just fine.
