Default Great World Run - 24 locations, 24 days, 314.4 miles!

http://www.greatworldrun.com/

I would just like to take this opportunity to draw this to the attention of anyone who is interested.

If you check out the website you will read about the monumental and inspiring task this Scot (who I taught) is taking on to raise money for Cancer Research UK. If you can find it in your heart to donate to such a worthy cause, all the better; if not just ponder on what he is doing for the cause.

Half marathons in Sydney, Canberra, at Uluru and in Perth have already been completed over the last week or so and he finishes up at the Great North Run in Newcastle this Sunday.

I should have also said click on Live Updates to read of Findlay's progress so far.

Sorry Oz, missed this, no excuse except been out most of the day. He's doing a brilliant job. Puts me to shame because I do bugger all except put money in a tin

Hope others also now see it.

Sorry I missed it too Oz. What an amazing young man. Makes the things we whinge and moan about seem trivial doesnt it. Hope everything goes well for him

Thanks for those comments both of you. He certainly is an inspirational character and if the only thing that I did in teaching was to have a small port in the way Findlay has turned out then it has been well worthwhile.

Anyone in the UK can see him finish in the Great North Run on Sunday. The BBC and ITV covered his departure from Newcastle 3 weeks ago, I'm sure they'll interview him when he finishes.

Thanks - not been around much mainly due to what Findlay is raising money for! Thankfully also have all clear.

Blimey! What a remarkable man - wish we'd known about this sooner as would have enjoyed following his progress. Certainly more than worthy of a donation.

Thanks again, I'm nearly back to 100% now after a 3 months I could have done without (also had to go out to Melbourne for my father's funeral).

Jeez, you have been through the mill. Very pleased to hear you are almost back to "normal" but so sorry about your father - usual story of being on the opposite side of the world whichever way round it is. Hope the rest of the year, at least, is good to you.

Thanks also for the kind thoughts.

My father's passing was expected (but not any easier for that) after a long 3 year battle. I was pleased to get out to Melbourne a few days before the end and also that we've been able to go out each year for 5 weeks. Albeit in one concentrated period, I probably saw and did more with my parents than those who live around the corner or nearby.

"Things can only get better" as the song goes! No, the last 3 month has re-inforced what I knew already. You never know what is around the corner so make every day a winner, appreciate the good things in life and never take for granted those nearest and dearest to you (tell them at every opportunity too).

The even more amazing thing is that Findlay also couldn't run to the end of the street before he contracted cancer!

Thanks for the thoughts too.
