Great value chemist in Perth
Just discovered this in North Perth - Bell's Drive-In Pharmacy (9328 5762) - it's on the corner of Fitzgerald and Raglan streets in N Perth.
Especially good for the asthmatics amongst us - ventolin inhalers were $6 each!! How's that - less than 3 quid for a puffer!
Also, it's open until 10pm everyday of the year - especially useful if you have kids and you've run out of cough medicine in the early evening. Happy days!
BTW, Kings Park was fabulous today - a little strings group, wildflowers and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Have only been in Aus a short while and still don't know the system for prescriptions.. do they just give you a prescription free and then you pay for what ever the chemist charges.. ventolin is a prescription drug iisn't it?

Just got prescriptions for the kids. The prescription was free, well assuming it was in with doctors visit covered by medicare. Doctor bulkbilled, so I paid nothing.
Got prescription and took to chemist as normal. Paid for items. Chemist told me that it was repeat and we just go to the chemist for next lot. Kids on regular prescriptions.
Only thing I found different was they are very strict with issuing Epi Pens. Lots of questions and they rang someone with our medicare number. We got a prescription, as son already has them and I had hospital letters.

No - ventolion isn't prescription over here. Initially I was cross about this but bearing in mind that it's $6, it's pretty good!

We found out this morning we have reached the safety net?
We've been here almost 18 years this time round and I didn't know we had a safety net?
Apparently from now on until 31/12/07 we just pay $3 for each prescription; then on 1/1/08 it reverts back to normal rip-off prices once more?

It pays if you try and use the same chemist because all your purchases are logged into the system.
