GREAT NEWS FOR PEOPLE COMING TO AUSTRALIA!!

The UK has just made significant changes to the HSMP program yesterday.

As expected UK immigration will be making significant changes to the requirements for the UK Tier 1 visa and Tier 2 visa. The changes will take place on 6 and 7 April 2010. If you meet the requirements for the Tier 1 or Tier 2 visa you should seriously consider applying now before the changes in less than a month's time.

If you earn a high salary and have a Bachelors degree then you may qualify for the Tier 1 visa from 6 April 2010. Previously, you could not come under Tier 1 at all with a Bachelors degree. If you have a Master degree and not such a high salary it may be more difficult to come under Tier 1 from 6 April 2010.

Essentially this will make millions more Aussie eligiable for entry into the UK which will absolutely no doubt leave a massive skills shortage in Australia. Australia will have surely no choice but to relax it's proposed toughening of immigration laws.

Dont think so tiger.
Not with the terrible wages you pay in the UK. When the pound was 0.36 to the dollar, a salary of 40,000GBP looked ok for a senior engineer. Now...?

It doesn't really make sense to convert income back into one's own currency but not living expenses. An income of £40k in the UK now provides more or less the same standard of living as £40k did a year ago. And many people moving over now would benefit from a weak pound with regards to any capital they brought over.
