On Friday afternoon I received a letter from DIMA informing me that I have my visa! (Extended Eligibility Temporary Visa (EETV) Spouse subclass 820)
I opened the letter on the street and had to sit down at a nearby cafe and cry tears of happiness!
I can't believe how quick it was.
I am British, my boyfriend is Australian, we have been together 15 months now. I'm in Aust on Working Holiday Visa.
I lodged my application and we were interviewed on October 29th 2001, in Adelaide.
Was waiting on UK and Australain police clearances, and was asked in interview for extra proof that we were living together in London (where we first met).
On November 20th I delivered my clearances and 3 more declarations (from friends and family in London).
On November 21st DIMA wrote the letter which I received on Friday.
I'm so relieved. We're now going to start saving for a house, I'm going to get my SA driving license, and I can keep the job I'm enjoying so much. (3 month limitation on WHV is a pain)
Thanks to all who helped with my early questions.
Good luck to all of those who are waiting.
Nara :-)

Hi Nara,
This is such great news. Although we have never met, I genuinely am happy for you!
Would you be so kind to le tme know how you went about it? I have been in Australia
on a student visa for 18 months now, living with my boyfriend (only weekends and
holidays though since my school was too far away)and he proposed to me just
yesterday!
I have to admit I really ahve no clue what we have to do to get married, so any
advice and help would be so very much appreciated!
I wish you all the best of luck and ... congratulations again.
Elisa.
