Got The Job, Now Need Your Advice.
HI, Right, i have been offered a good job in perth which i have verbally accepted. i am awaiting the paper copy of my contract but have read it all on the e-mail. anyway the company that are going to sponsor me have told me to get my visa underway but i am not sure where to start. i am looking to get out to perth by the end of september. can anyone let me know what i need to do to get the ball rolling and how long (roughly) it may take from start to finish. thanks alot.

My new boss said the same to me, but after looking into things, I had to wait until they got the ball rolling, before I could do anything.

Also, if it is a 457 you will be applying for, from start to finish I have read stories of 4-5 weeks normally. sometimes quicker (heard 2 weeks in one case !! ) . My employer can't be assed to start the ball rolling, so i've been waiting since Feb, but I don't plan on going over until Jan 2007, so it's not too bad, but once everything is filled in and sent off, things do go quickly.

This visa may not suit everyone. If you lost your employment, technically you have 28 days to leave the country, so be VERY sure the job is secure etc etc etc.
In NSW I understand you have to pay school fees.
Make sure you get the Living Away From Home Allowance.
