Default Gorgon Project Update

Hey guys,

I haven't heard much on the Chevron-Gorgon mega-project these days, does anyone know how the project is progressing? Does anyone know when the job hiring will start again for commissioning/ready for operations positions? They say project completion by 2014....however I've heard rumors that date could slide to 2015. I was hoping to apply for an engineering position.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

B

Largely incorrect. The part he works on may still be in the design phase. The vast majority was designed months/years ago. Expect commissioning of first train starting in late 2014. Other two in 2015/16. First LNG mid 2015?

Yes, I checked recently and they say all positions are filled, but I assume that means until the commissioning phase begins and they'll start hiring soon. Usually they'd hire commissioning and operations people at the same time a year before they expect to start commissioning. The website is pretty weak on project schedule details.

I've been working on the welding documentation for our workshop in Thailand for a couple of months now.
It's a pity there isn't more of this work happening in Perth.

secret spy work for a french organisation doing some sort of design for some part of Gorgon. That's what he tells me anyway. Clearly another poster here thinks differently.

well the only conclusion must be
1) your husband is deluded into think he is working on the Gorgon project when he is working on something else altogether.
2) he is working on Gorgonzola manufacturing
3) he is a spy

OR
(out on a limb here)
the other poster is wrong and your husband is telling the truth about where he works!!!!
(my former employer was heavily involved in Gorgon...and I was talking to someone in HR about forthcoming recruitment just today)

I have heard it's very hot up there. So to stay on the safe side I'd avoid full strength beer.

Hey Dan, any idea when they expect to start commissioning? Will they make the 2014 startup date?

Just been offered a job there, start April 2013. Looks like first gas is going to later part of 2014

Plenty still to be done on Gorgon. Several EPCMs in Perth have loads of Gorgon work starting next year.
