Exclamation Goods and Service Tax (GST)

Hiya All,
I've bought ALL my flights (UK to Australia and 4 internal domestic flights) online from my home in UK. On reading Lonely Planet Australia I came across this:.........."International air and sea travel to/from Australia is GST-free,as is domestic air travel, when purchased outside Australia by nonresidents."...

In total I have payed over AU$95 in GST for my domestic flights. Should I have informed the airlines that I am a UK resident, and only in Australia for a holiday (Reccie)??? Would it be worth mailing the airlines direct for a refund of the GST? Or am I crying over spilled milk????
Cheers
Dave

I was going to reclaim the GST from my reccie visit last year and emailed the airline. I think I had to provide boarding passes from both outbound and return international flights (to prove I'd left the country!), boarding passes from the internal flights and a copy of the international itinerary.

I just never got round to reclaiming the $40.

Once you enter Aus on your visa you become a permanent resident so I would think you would not be able to claim it back....also lot of hassle for 40 odd quid

No you don't.

When you enter Australia you tick a box on the landing card which says something along the lines of "I'm here to take up permanent residency for the first time". If you're only visiting....you're not taking up your PR so you are entitled to reclaim any GST on internal flights (if you can be bothered).
