Its still early days, but I am looking at moving to new zealand to work for a company based in Wiri outside of Auckland.

I currently commute into london so am happy to travel a bit to get to Wiri.

Can anyone recommend a good area to live. We are looking for somewhere for a family of 4. We have two kids aged 5 and 20 months. Would like to live in the country or near a beach. aslo would like some land with the property.

PF
If you are working around Wiri a good choice would be East Auckland around Howick area. This is a beach area, but the beaches aren't up to much, also if you go farther out East you can get to some rural blocks (I think it's called Whitford, but don't have a map).

I don' t know this area too well as I lived on the shore, and it was 3 years since I left.

Are there any particular suburbs in West Auckland I should avoid?

[QUOTE]Originally posted by garyb Yes - The less salubrious areas would be some parts of Ranui, Parts of Oratia ( although some of it is lovely) New Lynn and Avondale - parts of Henderson are quite built up , new housing estates etc. but it's still not bad. The best thing is to have a look for yourself if you get the chance as suburbs everywhere have good and bad areas
