Dear members,

Does anyone know where I can find a good skin specialist in Sydney? My sister-in-law is covered in rashes. She might be allergic to something.

Absolutely no idea. Sorry.

But has she tried using a different laundry detergent? She could always try using a very gentle detergent until she gets in to see a doctor.

While in University I discovered that I was suddenly allergic to the detergent that I had used for at least 10 years prior. I didn't think you could suddenly become allergic to something like that. After I switched detergents and dish soaps I was fine.

Just a thought. I hope she discovers what the problem is.

If you want a proper dermatologist (rather than a beauty-salon type place) then you really need a referral from a GP.

I'd suggest seeing a normal doctor first and see what they say. If a dermatologist is needed then they'll know who to send you to.

Hi there, I suffer from very bad skin, One month its ok the other its really bad on my hands and arms and I know how hard it is to find out what causes it. Ive had loads of patch tests done on my back but they give you a list of what you have reacted to and when you look at the contents of lotions, shampoos, washing liquid basically every thing has it in so theres not alot you can do! Also look at stress, yes mine also comes on very badly when im stressed, just try and chill but its hard sometimes. Look for an oil based product that you can soak in the bath with mine is called "keri" its quite good and also stay away from soap, get a dermo friendly hand cleaner instead. Hope this helps at all, I know its not nice. pete
