Default Good Job Offer?

Just got offered a job in Brisbane as a Project Manager, $135k + super. Is this a good wage for Brisbane?

Sounds quite good to me. We know several PM's (permanent and not contract) on $125-$132k.

Many different types of Project Manager, but if this job is the type/level I am used to seeing (in oil & gas industry) then AUD 135k is low - I would say AUD 200k++ is more like it.

It really depends what you are comparing it to. Project Manager is not one size fits all. Project Managers in at my place would be more like $200k+.

Not in Brisbane and certainly not permanent. Just because you got an unheard of job offer does not mean that it is the norm. All of our friends work in Oil and Gas or Mining here in Brisbane and the PM permie jobs here are not paying anything like that.

OP does not say what line they are in. And I definitely know PM in Brisbane earning $200k+. Whether this offer is good or not is too broad a question to answer on limited information. Perhaps OP should compare it to what they currently command as a PM.

Regardless, it still isn't the norm salary for Brisbane. Sydney or Perth, then yes but not the norm for Brisbane.

What has norm got to do with it? We are not all the norm. What is relevant is whether in OPs line of business and for his / her particular skills and experience, whether this is a good rate. I definitely know of people in Brisbane working as Project Managers and earning $200k+. Not the oil / gas industry.

Wasn't it you arguing that our posts must be incorrect?

I don't think anyone found fault with your post, but were merely suggesting that OP might want to divulge more information as there is not just one rate for a "project manager" and some earn considerably more.

$200 sounds very high. I'd imagine they'd want blood for that. $135 sounds about right to me. I'm comparing to the gas industry.

I agree, probably more for experienced people - $300k+

Simple answer to this is don't be permanent.

Being a permie is an excuse to pay you less for doing the same job as a contractor.

Yes, its a permanent job in the hospitality/retail construction sector? I think permanent gives you some security. Canna be arsed with mining, who wants to live in the desert really ?
