Good idea to move to Sydney for job?

I am currently doing a full time IT (proper IT) job in Melbourne. Would it be a good idea to move to Sydney for a better opportunity? Moving from Melbourne to Sydney is not too much of a hassle for me. However, I have spoken with a cousin of mine and he told me it is not a good idea to come to Sydney.

What do you think?

As a rule you shouldn't "SELECT * FROM anything".

In this "day and age", anyone armed with a keyboard and a mouse proclaims himself/herself an IT Professional. That's why I mentioned "proper IT" meaning not just the use of IT but also supporting the infrastructure.
