Hi Guys,

Me and the family have booked flights for 3 weeks in Perth starting the last week in March 2007.

Can anyone recommend a good base, hotel, best area etc........We want somewhere not too far from a beach but also need some entertainment etc......And also something to keep the little ones amused (and the kids aswell..............hehe).

We want to both a holiday and also look at potential areas to live once all the application processes are through.

Its gonna be like the chuffin Waltons when we go.................Me, The Missus, Son (6), Daughter (3), Mother-in-law, Father-in-Law, Sister-in-Law & Sister-in-Laws fella.

Any advice would be appreciated Guys.

Hi Rob, with so many of you why dont you look for self care accom. We have a 5 bed 2 bath detached bungalow 2 minutes stroll from Cafe's restaurants, clubs, beach etc in Rockingham, check it out on www.cedarcottagewa.com There are large homes all over Perth just like ours so it depends on where you were looking to base yourself. Loads cheaper to self care than eat out every meal and stay in 5 hotel rooms. Suzette at Cedar Cottage.

We are going the 5th February for 3 weeks to validate and reccie too. Although we are going to Sydney first for 5 days and then Perth for 2 weeks and then homewardbound via Dubai for two nights of pampering

Not sure where to go.......................North or South of the river. Just after a good base where we can still have a holiday and go to the beach etc......but not too far away from any entertainment and things to keep the kids amused.

As for the accomodation, we will probably be better off going for a hotel or apartments because if all 8 of us stayed in a rental home, we would end up killing each other after about 3 days lol !!!!

Hilarys (north of the river) might be a good area for a base, on the beach, Hilarys Boat Harbour is there with AQWA, (underwater world), restaurants, pubs, shops.

There are a lot of apartments there as well, I think they are about $180 per night, not 100% sure on that tho, but hopefully someone on the site might have one and give you a deal. Thats what I do if someone contacts me direct then I dont have to pay commission to the agent they have used.
