If the Gold coast is anything like Brisbane then according to the latest results in the Aussie school league tables then state schools were out performing private schools. The Trinity school is a decent one so is the catholic school in Burleigh, which i can't remember the name of. Our daughter goes to Robina state primary with some other Expat kids their as well and our son goes to kindy in Mudgereba

Sean when aren't you asking lots of questions . Your fine we rent and will be moving out of the area and could leave Elise in the school but it would be a little to far to travel so we will be moving her. They start high school at 11 the same as the UK but primary starts at 6. They go to from prep from 4/5 but the government are making changes to this with more schools doing it

5/10 minutes depending on what part of Carrara your coming from. Its just one main road the Robina parkway, could be even quicker if they eventually get the extra lanes up and working.

First born went into grade 8 a tad too old but not much. She is 13. All the other kids will be 13 during this school year.
Sean, Merrimac is a good one but not heard anything bad about the others. There are only about two high schools that are not as favourable as all the rest on the GC but generally a high standard so you are unlikely to go wrong.
My eldest is at Elanora High - bit outside your radius but it's a great school and she is really enjoying it.

Personally I never rated the UK ones and feel the same about the QLD ones. They only show how one particular year has performed and that is totally dependent on the children that were in that year.
Anyway for QLD list the link is
http://www.thecouriermail.news.com.a...schoolsop.html
There is other info here:
http://thecouriermail.news.com.au/fe...004341,00.html
On that link there is a useful series of articles from the 4th April as to how to pick a school.
