Re: Gold Coast Qld.
what i ca say is that there are lots of brilliant places to live in the GC again it also depends on what you want,
beachfront will cost an arm and a leg
large house with pool only an arm
move back 15k from the beach to this side of the M1 ( we are in worongary ) and you get much more for your dollar
have alook at realestate.com.au do search using your own requirements ( number of bedrooms, pool size, lot size, postal code ) and when you find something you like ask about the neighourhood
hope this helps
regards steve

I agree with Steve'o, move back from the water (but stay this side of M1) and you'll probably still be able to find reasonably priced housing. They are on the rise but now is a good time to be looking.
It's still only a short ride into the hinterland, and a short ride to the water or beach

Re: Gold Coast Qld.
It was stated in the local paper last week that the average price of a house on the Gold Coast is $507k! By 2009 they imagine the average will be $700k. Not sure if this helps but may give you an idea of price.
I would say that everything costs the same as in the UK except house which are obviously cheaper but increase rapidly.

Steve, it's looks like we are both on the wrong side of the road

But that doesn't necessarily mean you have to be scared senseless. There are so many houses being built that even with a supposed average of 700K there will still be lots of housing less than that. Just takes finding

If the sun is shining then you're on the right side.
I'm sure there was another thread debating the average cost of a Gold Coast house and someone said that the figure will take into account the million $ homes that are on the islands here. Some apartments are $1 million and some of the most expensive houses go up to around the $30 million mark. On the flip side you can find units from $250,000 so I'm sure you can find something in between the two

No, the average is $507k not $700k!
