Don't consider it better or worse than GC, just different. GC more developed, larger population, more infra structure, lots more high rises, more touristy, with loads of tourist facilities. lots of people live GC and commute to Brissy. GC consists of basically one long beach that streches from the spit to NSW border approx 50Kms.

SC starts at Caloundra (approx 100kms from CBD, no comuter rail line and main road is dual carriageway). Lots of small and large coves and beaches, which gives it more character than GC, and streches for about 80kms to Noosa. Developing fast and High rises are starting to appear in places.

Not so many commute to Brissy as must be 2 hour drive in rush hour, but great if you can find a job up their.

hi ian,
just to wish you and yours a safe journey.
alan and i will be at terranora lakes for 2 weeks from oct 4th all booked so hope to meet up then. we keep looking at the prices rising on the gold coast so will probably settle a little bit south of the border too. i was just looking at photos of the tweed and coolangatta area today - dreaming! and just hope its not become too built up! been a few years since our last visit.
keep in touch.

perhaps we'll meet you on the gold coast then, as can't make 14th june! hubby al is a builder, we hope to renovate or build to sell.
you'd have to visit both gold and sunshine to make your mind up. we like gold coast as a bit nearer sydney (brother there) and where we like (south ) it is still (i hope) quite unspoilt. no doubt people will disagree but its all down to personal choice.
here's to another birmingham meeting anyway!

Not saying gold is bad, except right on top of surfers .p unless you like all the high rises, we found sunshine to have better scenery (until Noosa got real popular) agree that more development there has made it more 'touristy'.
Glasshouse mountains region of sunshine v.beautiful.
