Re: Gold Coast Christmas In July Expats Meet 2012
Just a reminder for next Saturday. Its the British expats meet on the Gold Coast. We hold a Christmas in July on the coldest month to try and make it feel a bit normal to everyone from the UK. Its a family day out that we have each year to welcome new and old expats to the coast. The day starts off with a Scotland v England football match at 12.
After the game we will award the trophy to the winners and Santa will pop in to hand out small gifts to the children.
We also have a face painter and a bouncy castle for the children.
During the day the tuck shop will be open for all to use. In the evening the club will supply free finger food to anyone who wants to make an evening of it. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
Come out and support your country!
The scotland team is a mix of Scots, Irish and welsh.
If you click on the link below it will have a map and directions to the football club.
Some of you might not know anyone there, but thats how it was for the rest of us in the beginning. The whole idea is to get chatting to anyone. You never know you might make friends for life, just like we did when we first went.
See you all there!

Hi chaps...my husband moved over two weeks ago and it currently solo on the goldie until me and the kids arrive in a few weeks. He's feeling a bit over whelmed so I will suggest he comes along. So it's a soccer club in Southport is that right? 14th July 12pm?

Gold Coast Christmas In July Expats Meet 2012
This event is the 6th held on the Gold Coast. expats from Brisbane, the
Sunshine Coast, Tweed and from afar attend this event each year. The day starts with the International football match England V Scotland
There is a visit from Santa. The club will supply free food at night to all who attend. The drink is cheap and its a great event to catch up with others who have moved to the other side of the world
There will also be face painting and a jumping castle for the children
The game kicks off at 12 on Saturday the 14th of July at the Southport Soccer Club in Ashmore on the Gold Coast

Re: Gold Coast Christmas In July Expats Meet 2012
Anyone travelling down by train this weekend, plan to set off EARLY.
Queensland Rail in their wisdom have closed the line between Dutton Park and Varsity Lakes so there are NO TRAINS to the Gold Coast. There is a poxy rail-bus alternative which they reckon adds an hour to the journey

Re: Gold Coast Christmas In July Expats Meet 2012
Its the whole weekend Dutton Park to Varsity Lakes, with a couple of stations totally shut, which the numbskulls inform me means the bus won't call there either
I did ask about express buses but that brought a similar confused response, almost as if they couldn't understand why someone wouldn't want a tour of 20 suburban railway stations
