How's Brighton treating you, visited many times, there and Blackpool, love both places, great vibe, Brighton is a bit pricey for me now, whereas Blackpool is still affordable. Then again just done four weeks in Adelaide, phew its gone up in price rent wise.
Got a few male nurse friends, they cannot find/afford to rent a unit here relative to work, as there are no units to rent so they are moving states, I said good luck with that its the same all over I think. Tried for three weeks to secure a Unit, closest I have got is third choice.
Given up with Adelaide, going to try the Gold Coast, if I fail there, well I'm off to Thailand to relive my youth..

I called up one real-estate agent, she said in today's market we are not accepting viewings, you must apply for a viewing online, if we think you are acceptable then we will be in touch and allow you to view the property along with a bunch of others. have to admit, that scenario upsets me, feel for the young and the locals who are looking for a home. Awful situation here, absolutely awful...

I like Brighton but prefer Bournemouth and I have not been to Blackpool since forever lol (as a youngster it was North Wales for our visits to the seaside) I )might go this year to “see the lights” I feel so sorry for anyone who wants a rental (it’s fine we’re we live in the Peak District) but I remember in Aus (Perth) when we first arrived we had to buy in the end as there were hardly any rentals available and we always missed out on them, it was the same again not long before we left Aus we ended up paying a small fortune as once again very few rentals available and not in the much extended areas we required it certainly Andes to the stress etc, Good luck and hope all works out well for you. ps friends of ours in Aus migrated to Malaysia back in 2014 as they were fed up with the rising cost of Irving, it as their Plan C lol and they were chuffed to bits they made the move…

Thailand sounds the real deal. A Full Moon Party should do the trick in dissipating the OZ Blues. I think the entire country is extremely difficult to find rentals . I know Perth is. Watched the people view a property across the road from me two weeks ago. Saw at least twenty five visit and only watched for ten minutes. The owner didn't seem to accept any as place remained with To Rent sign up for another twelve days until yesterday. Must have waited for an offer couldn't refuse. Just hope not going to be another meth lab , as have enough of those already.
It's amazing Adelaide is so difficult. I thought far less immigrants went there than elsewhere. One does wonder just where this country is heading. All signs are not a good place.

Very interesting that friends of yours migrated to Malaysia back in 2014. I imagine they went on The Make Malaysia Your Second Home visa? Big changes there since 2021. Would really like to know if they'll continue to stay or move on? Many, if not most can no longer afford the new requirements which will impact them as well as not grandfathered.

Malaysia has long been a place of interest to me, having spent a lot of time there in the eighties. Off there again in August to check it out. Too much stress in Australia these days. Far too much drug activity and the country has lost its way. Hopefully UK will recover from recent set backs , but some similar issues , like record immigration impact there as well. All in all not easy at all. Probably being a digital nomad would be an option for some people with easy visa requirements in numerous countries.

Trying to get a rental in Aus now is a nightmare. It was one factor in me leaving now instead of in a couple of years - had to find a new place, rent would have trebled and there weren't any places handy for work so travel costs would have increased too. Still can't really believe I managed to get a place here before I even arrived home.
You're right, Brighton is quite pricey, but its familiar, and I'm really settled already. Haven't been up to Blackpool for many years, used to have friends up there and we had some good times there in the past.

I visited both recently and Bournemouth wins hands down, both in terms of a day out as well as settling down. It's no contest really unless you have some sort of back/family history with Brighton (or work for an airline operating out of Gatwick airport) - otherwise Bournemouth is a much better place.

Property rentals are a problem and if you don't fit the exact criteria then that makes matters even worse. Plus the system in place favours the property owner, allowing them to collect all applications and sift through them according to their own whims...

With regards to the original question by the OP, just take the Gold Coast light rail ("tram") to Surfers Paradise, and take a cab from there if need be.
