Going to Oz on the 26th on a Working Holiday Visa, need tips
Like the title says, I am going to Oz on the 26th of this month on a Working Holiday Visa. I am going there with the view to perhaps find permanent employment eventually and to stay over there permanently.
I am going with a company that is mainly set up for people travelling, as such most of their tips have been set up that way (such as taking a backpack for ease of travelling).
As soon as I get over there I will be looking to find a place to stay and get a job as soon as possible. Is there any tips anyone can give me with regards to what to pack (and what to pack it in) and any other things that may be helpful.

We cant really say without some information as to what your plans are. What are you intending to do for work whilst you are here ? Where are you heading to initially ? Are you travelling or are you trying to find employment - WHV employment restrictions can make that a tough call.
Do you qualify for a PR visa already of some sort ? Otherwise your going to find staying here not an option after your WHV.

I am presuming you are male, if so..............
Most backpackers need a lot of condoms, their favourite football shirt, lucky underpants, quality beer drinking games and if suitably trained a guitar for serenading female backpackers at the hostel.
In regards to gaining permanent employment and residency this is very difficult unless you have something specific to offer the country (used to be a points system). If you do not have the specialised skills, cash and work experience to get PR then marry an Aussie.
I was a backpacker in 1990 and fared well following the above rules

Get a Tax File Number (you can apply online) asap so you can show employers you are entitled to work here. A lot of (even casual) jobs there days specify permanent residents only, so make sure you have enough money to support yourself if you don't find work as quickly as you hope.
