yet funnily most UK sparkies will tell you how stone age the Oz electrical standards are compared to the UK ;) amongst other qualifications.

In Australia? Without a doubt. Same with any other country. The Americans probably aren't too interested in a certificate from the UK either. I'd also hazzard a guess that the UK are also uninterested in certificates from Aus or the US.

Actually Oz is pretty wanky when it comes to this kinda thing. Most Oz tickets transfer directly in the UK and esp for Oz sparkies they mainly need to learn what a ring main is.

Here in sunshine land you get ripped off as immi say yes come over but they don't tell you that you'll need to do a year of TAFE to get the Oz ticket for a trade you've been doing for years in UK/USA. Personally it screams of scam to make money from Immi and TAFE. The original convicts just got government jobs so hence we're all screwed ;)
