as we known that the current global economic downturn. does it affect australian economic? how is the IT job market in Australia ?

(ETA: I'm saying this of course from the unbiased position of someone who's been vaguely looking for a new job for 2 and a half years now without success - the fewer skilled people there are around here the better asa far as I'm concerned!)

Depends on your skills, but many newcomers have problems getting their first IT jobs, overseas experience isn't counted as highly here in some companies. I've also noticed the application process seems very slow here (at least compared to the UK).

Generally most work is in Sydney & Melbourne, Bris is 3rd but seems OK for programming.

seek.com.au is the best place to see what work's out there.

It depends on what skill set you posses. I dont think it is hard to get a job in IT if you have prior experience.

yeah no dramas mate, australia is completely isolated from any economic downturn. it's all roses and gold here buddy... super cheap real estate, ultra high living standards, quality heath care and exceptionally cheap cost of living.

If you've got skills in mining, ERP/SAP you'll be sorted
If you know someone who can get you a job you'll probably be sorted too
If you have to rely on Seek you'll probably be screwed. But you'll get very,very good at applications.
