Default gisborne nz?

Hi have any of you visited Gisborne or live in the area, my husband has just found a job advertised there that seems quite promising! We have 2 children and want to settle somewhere which is quite quiet and safe.
your thoughts please

Hi there
My brother in law's family all live there and I have visited once. Did strike me as a quiet place to live although nice community feel. There are some fantastic beaches and great countryside close by, but Gisborne is quite remote even by NZ standards... My bro in law had a happy childhood there, though!

from one visit i found it a quiet town.
it is remote in that it's quite a drive to get to or from the region.
probably fairly safe place besides a couple of high profile maori gangs that reside there. presumably this forces the police (& community) to be proactive in the interests of public safety.

hi kerrie

the bay of plenty, especially tauranga, is very nice. the area has great beaches & heaps of outdoors activities within striking range......waitomo caves, sailing, kauri forests, abseiling, etc.

sounds like you're looking for a quiet place - which tauranga definitely is....except for new years eve when it becomes a popular party town. tauranga has probably got the best climate in nz (except for kaitaia).

good luck
