Getting quotes for removals.....
 

We have PSS coming over this Thursday and would like to ask those who have used them weather you have knocked them down on the quote that they gave you.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

I am having them over on Friday so it will be interesting to see if the diffenece between the two quotes. I just got one in from John Masons for £3585 from Hemel To Brisbane full pack and another company (can't remember who) for £3800! Glup!

Was that for a 20 ft, or 40 ft or shared container?

Ive had quotes of that size for a 20footer .
Now only taking 1/3 of a 20f container for £1600 leavind all the big stuff behind !

This time last year it was only £2500 for 20f cont now will cost £4000ish
Thats why we are only taking the best of our stuff , will need new sofas , bed, dinning table ! when we get to auAus

Yep thats the shock i got :scared: hence not worth taking some stuff now for us.

We had a quote from PSS for £3450 (20ft) Allied Pickfords were £3700 but they matched PSS price , so being local we are going with them. Knock them down , if they won't drop tell them you will use someone else.Thats £250 in my pocket ($600 towards the rental)

Hi,

Has anyone actually worked out if it is cheaper to take your large items of furniture and pay the extra shipping costs or to just buy new stuff when you get there.

Am going next month to research this matter before we go next year.

It seems that they will all barter!!!

We have had four out now and we have reduced it to 3 as the chap from JM was rubbish.

Pickfords were the most expensive by far (£800 :scared: )and he phoned and when we told him by tht he was not in the running he is now off sharpening his pencil to requote us. :rolleyes:

I did once, this is just a rough guide.

1 No shipping - saving £3500 - £4000 ($9000)
2 Selling all my big items - £3200 ($8000)
3 No Insur - £200 - £300 ($600)

$17000 - $18000 to spend on NEW :eek:

Price up all new what was sold = $25000 , more expensive you are getting new

It was for sole use of a 20ft, which they all think we will just about fill. I have Fox removals coming next week who will price up for a DIY pack and they fill the container... it will be interesting to see how the prices match up.
