Smile getting nannys/au pairs/childminders

just wondering how easy it is to find a nanny/au pair/childminder out there in aus, as opposed to using day care for the kids?
my twins will be 5 in feb 2006, and we aim to be heading out to brisbane at the end of 2006, so the kids can start school in jan 07. thing is, as im a nurse, hubby a plasterer there may be times when getting kids to school is a problem - similarly picking them up after school too.
i have the websites for the accredited childcare providers etc but just wondered what the reality was like? big probs where i live getting childminders.....not enough to go round!
also, are there agencies like we have in the uk who can put you in touch with prospective au pairs?

cheers!

sue

In Sydney the availability varies by suburb. Out where the rent is cheap and there are lots of families there are plenty of childcare places. Around here where property and rents are expensive there is a chronic shortage. We are struggling to find somewhere for our unborn son and the Mrs is a year away from going back to work.

I guess the availability in Brisbane varies by suburb.
