Getting Character (Police) checks in advance
Hi there,
Im applying for a prospective marriage visa and about to send it in. I havent got character (police) checks yet though as the DIMA forms say to send then when requested.
Is it worth preparing for the police checks so they can be sent off straight away when requested?
Also how long are police checks valid for?
I have seen some posts where people have put in medical and police checks with their application. Is that possible and does it save time?
Thanks in advance
Simon

Why not?

1 yr. However say if you live in country A from 1995-1998, and the live in country B
from 1998-now. DIMIA will take a clearance letter from country A dated in Jan 2001
(even if it's now Apr 2002- over 1 yrs already). This assumes you haven't lived in
country A ever since. I know because this is what I did.

Yep. Was recommended to do so. Got my PR in 1 month's time.

How did you manage to do your medical cjecks before they were asked for ? Do they not ask different people for different types of medical ?

Thanks - So it is OK to send the Police checks to DIMA once its being processed, as long as I have a reference no. from them I guess so they can match the correspondance.
Pardon my ignorance but what does PR mean?
